KAROGOTO Wet Mill
Karogoto is a wet mill (also called a factory) situated near Karatina town in Nyeri, Kenya. It is one of four wet mills that are owned by the Tekangu farmers cooperative society. There are numerous wet mills in Nyeri, often just a few minutes' drive from one to another. The reason for this is that Nyeri is home to thousands of smallholder farmers that own on average 0,5 hectares of land where they typically grow coffee, maize, pasture, and other crops. A farmer typically will pick her/ his coffee cherries and sell them to the nearest wet mill that is within walking distance. The cherries get bulked together before they are processed and dried by the staff on a cooperative wet mill...

KAROGOTO By Tim Wendelboe
We have our new Exotic Collection member from Oslo; Tim Wendelboe's KAROGOTO roast for the Baristatus family. Tim Wendelboe, a World Barista Champion (2005) and 8 times winner of the Nordic Roaster Championship (2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2008) is famous for his iconic coffee roasting (and also brewing) skills as well as very well-known entrepreneur in the coffee industry.  The coffees from Karogoto are always super clean and have an intense fruity and floral flavor. This is most likely because most of the members/farmers are still growing the SL28 cultivar and have received a lot of agricultural training over the years. The climatic conditions also...

The Pledge : Transparency in Coffee
The Plage, a common code for transparency reporting in green coffee buying. Coffee is a business of pretty pictures and harsh realities. Roasters and coffee shops around the world depend upon farmers to produce the excellent beans that we love. Too often, however, producers reap too little of the profits that are being generated along the value chain. An increasing number of actors in the coffee industry have recognized that the only way to secure the production of great coffee is to increase its sustainability along the value chain. And ultimately sustainability in coffee production must start with producers earning a living income. If producers cannot make enough money...

ROEST "Meet Fauske"
Our paths crossed with ROEST for the first time in 2018 at the Amsterdam World of Coffee Festival. OMG! Do you believe in love at first sight? :) Within the following years, ROEST never stood still. It has always progressed by putting new technologies on it. I also continued to follow ROEST frequently on the web, on Instagram, and at international events I attended. It's kind of a "stalking" situation. She said, "I will be in Germany," and I went there. She said she is coming to Dubai WOC during the pandemic days, I was there too. Even the ROEST team couldn't make it, we met at the distributors' booth and catch up.  We continued to meet...

Single O
I met Single O on my Sydney trip in October 2017. Australia, and the city of Sydney in particular, is a wonderful city with many different quality coffee roasters and cafes. It is full of wonderful addresses where quality coffees are roasted, knowledge is blended with skill, and that spoil your palate. I think Single O is a great brand that leads these special places. As always, I marked the most beautiful cafes and quality roasters in the city on the digital map. Single O, Grounds, Mecca, Pablo & Rusty's and more. Single O on Reservoir Street was one of the closest stops to my resident. Since I had read so many good things about them, I went to this spot first. Glad I...
